Q. I have heard the Waiheke is a relatively small island, do I really need to rent a vehicle to get around?
A. Many of our customers have heard the same story. It is only when arriving at Waiheke they realise the scale of the island and the rugged terrain. Preferring to not rely on public transport, many choose to hire a vehicle to travel to the many attractions dotted around the island.
Q. Can I make a reservation outside New Zealand on this web site?
A. Yes. Our website enables you to book online or if you prefer you are welcome to send and email booking form or contact us directly to confirm a reservation.
Q. Is a bond required?
A. For all hire agreements there is an insurance damage excess of $2500.00 for drivers over the age of 25 ($3000.00 ages 21- 25)
Alternatively, you can buy down the insurance excess to $350.00 at a cost of $25.00 per day ( or $500.00 if 21-25 years at a cost of $35.00 per day)
Q. Are child seats available.
A. Yes certainly for all ages at a small fee of $15.00 per day capped at $50.00 long term.
Q. What is the standard daily rental period?
A. The standard vehicle rental is generally based on a calendar day which is defined from 8am - last ferry of the day. But you can extend through to 10am the following day for $15.00.
Q. What do I need to bring with me when I rent a car?
A. All intended drivers of the vehicle will need to be present and provide a valid drivers licence. If payment is via credit card then the credit card holder must be present.
Q. Is there an additional charge if there will be more than one driver?
Q. How old do you have to be to rent a car?
A. Most car rental companies require drivers to be over the age of 25, however at Waiheke Rental Cars requires drivers must be over the age of 21 and hold a full driver's license.
Q. Why do I have to return my car at a set time?
A. Returning a vehicle after the designated time might affect the rate quoted. Returning the car by the agreed-upon time also helps ensure that all other customers will have their reserved car available upon their arrival.
